It's Sample making time

Animal with shoes personal piecing has been suspended for now.  :(

One of my local quilt quilds that I belong to,  Sougheagan Valley Quilt Guild has asked me to teach a jelly roll class. Now knowing how tight some budgets are and try to get things done.  I selected and got permission to use a free pattern for the class.
Of course silly me.........Last time I did this one I made the pattern in patriotic fabric and gave the quilt to a veteran.  So here we go again (Singing in your head with the voice of Dolly Patron)

I like the idea of doing this sample for donation also
But don't have a patriotic jelly roll in hand......so I guess this one will have to  be handed to a female veteran.

Martha, of NH Quilts of Valor Can you find a home for this one after November?

Here are a few she got from the Heritage Guild last week

To every bindng stitch, stitch, stitch

My in-laws have a quilt. I guesss I should be more specific, they have a qult made by me.  In the last year they vocalized a request for another one, as the sun was fading the one they have.  So, being the dutiful daughter-in-law I try to be, I put together a queen size quilt top for thier bed while I was at quilt retreat in February

A few weeks ago, they called asking for colors etc about this quilt as the sun (after this week I am not sure what that looks like) was coming in their windows and waking them up.  They wanted to buy new curtains to match the quilt.  Well, that was enough to get me off my butt and moving.  The quilt got in the que, on the machine, and off the machine in the last week.  Thank god,  my friends have enlightened me to at least put my binding fabric with my tops.  NO frantic searching for fabric to make binding that would match or compliment and finding out you don't have enough.  Many of my tops are several years old.  I like to let them age (lol) and will only quilt them if I do not have any quilts to do for customers.  It not that I don't like my piecing, it's just that I get so many wonderful quilts in the door that what I have done is just not all that inspiring.  I have to admit that I am a member in 3 quilt guilds so I get plenty of inspirations for show and tell, often that is why I go.

Let's see where were we going here.........ever notice when you are wanting something finished ( and we all want them done sooner to get to the next one) that the last row or in this case edge of binding takes FOREVER.  Done is great !!!
And with that I posted come and get it :)

Here are pictures, nothing fancy, just a garden lattice quilt by nice

Sampler and inspiration

I had the priviledge of being on vacation last week from my day job.  I was able to assist with the hanging of the quilts that we displayed at the Sampler.  I was also suprised to see my qulting in The Red Barn's vendor booth.  It was the seasonal banners that I was honored to quilt of Poor House Quilt Design

Talking with several fellow quilters has inspired me to get off my butt and quilt my monster quilt next for ME ! say tuned for pictues

March & April

March came in like a lion and seemd to stay that way for the whole month
April showers are suppose to bring May flowers......well just please no more snow!

The crocus have arrived in the garden. To me the first sure sign that spring is here to stay.

On April 1st I got a beautiful Grandchild
Please meet Brianna Jay with her big brother Taylor

Machine quilting is starting to pickup up, so my piecing will slow down.

My monsters quilt is still needing a few more borders, and my Summer Memories is almost there. Kris Poor of

Speaking of Winter Memories.......I GET TO QUILT THE NEW SAMPLE !!!

Can you tell I am excited !!

Please check on my gallery for recent quilts off the machine

New toy of the Month has been the Creative Grids Pineapple Ruler
I am hoping this will use up some of my scraps

quilt tops and piecing

Remember back when I was asking about a color arrangement of black to white fabrics???

Here is one of the two tops that they ended up in

No, the red block is not a mistake, my friend, Kelly, wanted a red block in this one!

And I like it.

This top was on the design wall last week and now it a top in the to be quilted bin
love Batiks right now

design wall day

Here is this weeks design wall

these are my farmers wife blocks.  Looking at them on this picture is definitley telling me that I need to do some re-arranging and distributing some of the darker and lighter blocks about.
I have the blue fabric picked out for my cornerstones and the gold for the sashing (on left)
the beige I have just about talked myself into for the setting triangles with the brown print for the final borders.
