POSION IVY

Life has thrown a monkey wrench at me.

My old friend posion ivy has come to visit again.  As a child I got a severe case of posion ivy every summer/fall.  It was always very bad.  I would get shots for it and still get it.



My husband and I did landscaping, trimming, weeding and bark mulch over the Memorial Day weekend.  Monday afternoon the itch started, thought nothing of it, bug bites. I had not had posion ivy in over 18 years.  Tuesday moring I was sure my nemesis was here in force. One doctor visit and 3 prescriptions later; we are down for the count for the rest of the week. Needless to say, no quilting was going on.  Nothing to make me sweat or get warm. God, was I ITCHY. I am still ITCHY; but on the mend.  Needless to say my husband has lost his landspacing help.

Not alot of quilting going on here in the house.  We finally have spring here !


I had a wonderful education/inspiration time at MQX.

 My favorite teacher this time is Bethanne Graves Nemesh.  I was very impressed with her class. She was in a class room where all the walls where white boards (now I want to paint all the walls in my studio with this stuff), and she drew out all the designs and stepped us through them all.  At first sight I thought, on no! as she was dress very polished and professional; little did I know this was her first teaching experience.  My first thought was that she was one of those people you run into that are stuck on themselves, especially after winning so many ribbons.  But no ! to my delight I was completely WRONG! Bethane is a very inspring and information person, very willing to share her thoughts and ideas.  It was a wonderful class and a delight to hear her tell you to let go of some things and wait to see it you could still see that little wobble later.

My best class about Modern quilting was with Jodi Robinson.  I have seen may of her quilts and books but never thought of her techiques as something I could do. She also was very willing to draw you through all her desgins (and more than once). She had many great ideas and tips that were not part of the quilt supply store, often this make things less expensive. :). With the ideas, instruction and inspiration from Jodi, I now feel that I can do justice to a modern quilt.

School time

It's that time of year again.....time to get my education on.  MQX in right in my back yard YIPPEE!!
My classes are starting on Wednesday and go on to Saturday.  Smoke is now poring out of my ears with all the ideas and inspiration going on in my head.

a taste of spring

So after many weeks of snow on weekends, we finally get a taste of spring.  Many of us in the New England area a celebrating the with ice damns melting off roofs and no more drip bucket obstale course in the house.

I am getting excited for a few things
1. Sleep away Quilt camp with my sissy Diane Phillips
2. NO more treadmill jogging.  First 5k is March 29th.

Snow

We have had TOO much snow lately !

My poor husband is snow blowing the driveway at lunchtime and when he gets home from work so my can get in the driveway


BUT WAIT......WE GOT MORE !!!

Many of my poor customers either can't manage to get to me to drop of quilts or pick them up....so I have been able to quilt a few of mine tops too

C for Counted Cross Stitch

This post is being brought you by the A counted cross stitch quilt.
This was one on those quilts that was made from a kit with the panels done in counted cross stitch and those lovely blue dots to quilt by.
At first I thought NO Way am I going to follow those ^&*(# dots......but after pondering and thinking and testing and thinking and staring (yes, a lot of that stand and stare was going on) I re-considered and decided to do just that.  The cross hatching was almost 3 inches apart so everything went much faster than normal (my cross-hatching is usually 1 inch), and darn if I just couldn't talk myself into putting a pantograph on it.
So enough delays, here she is
