January 2015

Okay, so it's been forever since I posted on this blog.  First, came Quilt Market and several I can't shows, then came the Christmas/Holiday gift time and MORE I can't shows.

So we blogged once about what we were piecing on and how we get our inspiration, and then
SILENCE.

The holidays are now over and I only have one quilt left for pickup from the season.

I finished piecing my dancing nines quilts and they are now ready to go on the machine

I knitted a bright sweater for my granddaughter.

And I also allowed myself to get sucked into a mystery quilt.  I got hooked into all the chatter of Bonnie Hunters, Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt.  It ends up being just a little too busy for me, but will be a great quilt to work on some different freehand quilting with.

In November, I ran my first 5K race, and managed to get lost once running around my house ( note to self ALWAYS take your reading glasses so you can read your phone maps)

Now for some quilts

around the world blog hop

'I have been tagged by Marie of Marie's Creative Space for this.  So here goes my answers to the questions.

1. What am I working on ?
   Piecing
Dancing Nine Patches a Bonnie Hunter Pattern

Pineapple blocks from my scrap bin with the creative grids ruler.

   Machine Quilting
Customer Quilts and Background on my Twisted Star. this pattern is no longer in print by here is a  link to it

2. How is my work different than others?
Really ! What a question ! UGH....I can say I am the most precise piecer or machine quilter but I can say I am fairly consistent.  I am always willing to share.....PLEASE come invade my scrap bin :)
That being said......quilting is my PASSION. Many times I will not look at a quilt and see the easiest quilt plan, but I will go for what I truly feel is the best plan ( many times I am begging to go on to the next by the time I am done)

3. Why do I create?
Again quilting is my PASSION.  I love the process of taking the fabric and pattern and making my own.  Sometimes at night, as I am laying in bed waking for sleep to take me, my mind goes off to envisioning various quilting plans to do the same quilt......(this can be both good and bad)

4. What is my process?
My piecing process.......pull a pig (project in grocery sack) out of the closet and start......If it is something that is not a group project of swap project that is. My goal is to clear out all my pigs (projects in grocery sacks) that have built up over the years.

Machine quilting. If there is no defined plan; I know is will not be an allover ....I will do all the stitch in the ditch/stabilizing work.  Usually by the time I am done with this the quilt has whispered to me what it thinks I should do.   Note: we call this SID and STARE not much different from Stand and stare.

I am tagging

Finally

For the last several weeks I have been silent..............oh, I have been quilting .... It's just that time of year when I get in quilts that I can't show or talk about.  It's all very exciting and humbling at once.  Exciting that things that I have quilted are going off to quilt market. It is also very humbling when you load that piece on your machine and begin to quilt it ( oh my god it better be good!) so radio silence has been going on.  I did get to finish my quilt that I have submitted for fall quilt show the gathering .  I will know if my baby made the cut in October .  Below are pictures of now and forever. Pattern by Beth Ferrier of Applewood Farms.

happy days

This post is brought to you by Family Time!

Last month I took some time to visit with family members that were here from several states. So I did take a little me time.
I also worked on my charity quilts, quilts for a good clause and show quilts.
The below quilt is on it's way shipping paid for by my day job, ControlAir Inc to MGySgt. Lee Brinkman retired for the raffle next month at his units reunion.  ALL proceeds are going to the Semper Fi Fund. Pattern is used with permission. Behind the scenes

Okay, I really don't piece an awful lot.  But I am really excited about 2.....yes 2 projects I am working on.

1.  I have committed a quilt of my choice to for the 25th Reunion of a Marine unit.  The military veterans are close to my heart and what makes this even better is that all proceeds go to the Semper Fi Fund.

2. I have been diligently working on stitching around my applique for what I would consider a show quilt.

Both projects must be pieced and quilted by September.
So keep your eyes open for pictures later

I have been quilting, along.
A few weeks ago I had a no good, rotten day.  I was trimming the final threads on a customer quilt after having set in the borders and sashing and clipped the quilt top. :(
My stomach hit bottom and kept falling. .........into the black hole it went.
I called my customer and did what I hate to do.......tell them about this over the phone
I waited for them to arrive and what I did.
I must say I LOVE MY CUSTOMERS !!!!!
This customer is a regular and Thank God their attitude was " stuff happens"

On to the eye candy
